2024 New Year’s Day Tournament

2024 NEW YEAR’S DAY TOURNAMENT

The 10th annual Kingpin’s Alley New Year’s Day Tournament took place on Monday, January1, 2024. This year’s event featured a field of 91 bowlers. The tournament competitors bowled 8 games, moving pairs after each game.

We had three previous champions in the event this year. Steve Wagoner (2017), Jon Wilbur (2022) and defending champion, Matt Fazzone.

The tournament pattern this year was 2023 PBA Harry Smith. This is a 41’ long pattern with a 2.5:1 ratio and 31ml of oil. The scoring pace was lower than last year, and the bowlers had to work hard to strike. 25 of the bowlers were on the plus for the day.

John (JP) Harrell came away with the championship this year. JP started his day with a 196 game and didn’t shoot under 200 the rest of the day to take home the title by just 32 over Kingston’s John Ferraro. Harrell total 1837 pins for his 8 games while Ferraro had 1805. They were the only bowlers to top 1800.
