Baker Doubles Tournament

The 2025 Baker Doubles Tournament had a field of 45 teams. Teams bowled 8 baker games during qualifying with the top 8 teams advancing to the round robin match play.

The pattern this year was custom made by Tom Hankey at Kegel. It was a challenging pattern that saw 16 of the 45 teams on the plus and not one team had every game over 200.

When the qualifying was done the 8 teams that advanced were:

During qualifying, the team of Brady Jennings & Sean Burnham held the leader spot or second place for the first 4 games before they faded and finished in 10th place.

Compared to last year, the scoring pace was lower this time around. The high game on the day was 279 by the aforementioned Jennings and Burnham team.

Zac Gentile and John Ferraro were steady all day. They topped 200 their first six games before a slight fall off in games 7 and 8. They still had enough to lead qualifying, however.

There were a few former champions in the field this year. Last year’s champs, Jon Wilbur and Bill Webb finished in 12th place. Brandon Boyer and RJ Martinez, who won two years ago, finished in 22nd place.

Match play was 8 games of round robin. All eight teams bowled each other one time and then a final position round eighth game. Teams were awarded 30 pins for a win and 15 pins each for a tie. Pins from qualifying carried over to this round.

Tom Reed and Michael Obernesser went 6-2 in match play to go from 5th to the title. This was the first win for this team but, it was Tom Reed’s second win overall. He teamed up with Travis Winglowski back in the 2014 edition of this event for the win. Tom thus becomes the first two-time champ.
