2026 New Year’s Day Tournament Results
The 2026 New Year’s Day tournament turned out to be the biggest one yet. There were 105 entries this year with some bowlers coming from as far away as three hours.
The tournament pattern this year was designed specifically for this event by Tom Hankey at Kegel. Of the 103 bowlers that completed all 8 games, 29 of them were on the plus side (average of 200 or higher).
Two bowlers managed to shoot all eight games over 200 (Andrew Hall & Matt Fazzone). Eventually, the top two spots settled with Andrew Hall and Rick Bogholtz battling for the lead. Hall held the top while Bogholtz chipped away. Heading into the final game, Andrew had a five-pin lead. Bogholtz strung together 5 strikes in the last game to solidify his win with a 245 game. Andrew managed a 205 last game.
There were several past champions in the field this year. Defending champ, Eddie Torres finished in 4th this year. 2024 champion, JP Harrell finished in 17th place, which was also the last cash spot. 2023 winner, Matt Fazzone took third place this time around. Three-time champion, Brian LeClair wound up in 12th this year. Craig Schoonmaker, the 2018 winner, finished in 40th place. The 2017 champion, Steve Wagoner, ended the day in 29th place.
The top 17 bowlers cashed.
